Daniele Catalani, the Iron Chef contestant and creator of Al Volo, will open Toscana Market at 400 K Street later this year. The 2800 s.f. space will feature a demonstration kitchen and authentic Italian market with prepared foods. Al Volo, which began with a stall at Union Market, has expanded to Cleveland Park and Adams Morgan, as well as a downtown pizzeria in the Warner Theater building. Chef Catalani, a native of Florence, got his start in DC cooking with chefs Roberto Donna and Amy Brandwein. Al Volo was represented by Ken Johnson of Blake Dickson Real Estate.
